Teen & Adult Circumcisions in our Western Sydney Practice
Teen & Adult Circumcisions
Adult & teenager circumcision is a safe and commonly performed procedure for men seeking improved comfort, health benefits, personal or cultural reasons.
While it is most commonly performed on newborn boys, we provide this option for adults and teenages who require the procedure later in life. We focus on patient care providing discreet, professional care in a supportive environment to ensure your comfort and confidence every step of the way.
Dr Sheen uses the Plastibell Technique, this technique has been used for many years and has been chosen because of its ease of use, fewer complications and requirement of local anaesthesia instead of general anaesthesia.

Benefits, risks and considerations of an adult circumcision?
Why teenagers and men choose to be circumcisied
Deciding to get a circumcision for a teenager or for an adult can be for religious traditions, to seek potential health benefits or for cosmetic reasons. Whatever the motivation, the key is to make an informed choice that feels right for your family. 20% of males have an issue with their foreskin at some stage in their life.
Men consider circumcision for a range of reasons including:
Improved genital hygiene and ease of cleaning
Reduced risk of certain infections
Medical concerns - Phimosis (tight foreskin)
Medical concerns - Balanitis (inflammation of the foreskin)
Prevention of ongoing discomfort, painful erections or tearing

On the day of the procedure, please arrive 30 minutes before the procedure. The patient will be unable to drive home, we ensure a support person is available for after the procedure. While the procedure is only 30 minutes; our pre and after procedure ensures the patient leaves feeling calm and comfortable.
Once the pre-procedure details and consultation have been completed and Dr Sheen is ready to perform the procedure, we ask the support person wait in our waiting room, or leave the practice.
During the procedure, the foreskin is carefully removed from the head of the penis. The edges are stitched with dissolvavle sutures. The entire procedure generally takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
Once the procedure is completed the patient will need to rest and will be given an ice pack, this is to decrease inflamation. Dr Sheen will take one final check before the patient leaves. In total you will be at the practice for a few hours.
After Procedure Care
The next day, remove any dressings and shower as normal.
Return to the practice 5-7 days after the procedure for a follow up appointment.
